Is a medicine you have at home still effective enough to use it after its expiration date?

I’m sure that you all have at home some medicines which are past their expiration dates. Furthermore, I’m also sure that you have wondered if they are still good to use. Expiration date is a date which assures that until that date there will be at least 90% of active substance present in a medicine you use. Those “numbers” are determined along guidelines present in European (Ph.Eur.) or United States Pharmacopoeia (USP). Pharmacopoeia is basically some kind of a bible to us pharmacists. Expiration dates are not stated for nothing, they are there to warn a user when a drug is not safe to use any more.

Which drugs can be taken after their expiration date and more useful information can be found on the link bellow. Read it, it’s worth your time.
